I’m working towards getting organized again. I was vividly reminded of how much this organizing method works for me during these past several weeks.
Since April I’ve been dealing with my dad being in the hospital and not knowing when I would be needed to drive out to help him in addition to the regular Wednesday trips I was making to the hospital. This can also be translated to “I’ve been becoming more and more un-organized. Again.”
I know that’s backwards, most people get ultra organized so someone else can step in and keep their homes running smoothly when something like this happens. I do have to say the one M.O.M. method I did keep up on was the tickler file. Without that all of my sanity would be gone, not just most of it!
I know everything going on with my dad and the additional responsibilities from that were on my mind, but so was everything else! It should have been on paper so I could concentrate on the important things. That’s the first step I’m taking in my quest for organizing – again! Writing everything that’s on my mind down on its own sheet of paper, then stepping back and writing down the ‘Next Steps’ for that item so I can attack it in an organized manner.
I’ve also been unsubscribing to a lot of the e-mails I’ve been getting. I found during this time there were only a few that I actually read. Having much less to read, or worrying about whether or not to read, has done wonders! Now when I receive e-mails I can quickly look through them and determine whether it’s something I want to reference later or whether I can delete it right away!
I challenge you to try these two things during the next week to see if they help you get (feel) a little more organized too!
