Sweet Pea had quite the scary run-in with the open toy box, creating a divot in his forehead [that bled – a lot.]
I was upstairs and heard the sickening crack, came downstairs as fast as I could to see Hubby huddled over my precious 5 year old, who was laying on the floor crying his head off with blood trickling down the side of his head. Poor Cutie Pie was so scared….we all were.
It wasn’t a matter of playing more calmly, a matter of needing better coordination, simply a misstep. A scary trip! He is fine. It was more of a tissue bruise, no concussion. He has a nice little ‘T’ on his forehead, though, which I hope doesn’t scar.
It wasn’t until much later that night that I realized how scared I was and that I hadn’t flipped out like the before-kids me would have. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Sometimes being scared into a reaction can be a good thing. Right?
What’s the scariest thing that’s happened to your kiddos and how did you handle it?
