Scared of Dying

Thank you for praying for my dad. Still no official diagnosis. He is still in the hospital, and prayers are still appreciated.

Now, as far as I know my dad isn’t in danger of dying, but this ordeal has initiated questions about death from my 5 year old. Somehow he thinks when you go into the hospital it’s because you’re going to die. We’ve been fielding questions about death long before my dad came down with this. As you can imagine he’s asking lots of questions now, both about Grampa and himself dying. So far we’ve been able to give him simple answers he’s happy with, however…
So my question: how do you handle these heavy questions?

I couldn't fathom being able to handle those questions only because I am still afraid of death myself. I will pray for your father to get better soon.

:o( So sorry that you have to go through facing your parents'eventual death and then trying to explain it to your you boys…I think we become so aftraid because we are never around sick/elderly people unless they are dying. You could use the opportunity while your dad is in rehab to bring the boys and some cookies to some elderly people who don't often have visitors. One of the most wonderful experiences my children had was going to a day care for a short period of time called ages and stages that housed a nursing home in the lower level. The children would regularly do activities with the elderly people and often performed for them. It benefited both greatly!
