The kiddos were in the living room the other day playing with the tunnel we have when I heard Cutie Pie say “I’m going to teach you the rules for going through the tunnel.” I didn’t actually hear any rules shared. I’m sure this was just a ploy Cutie Pie thought would get him going through the tunnel without Sweet Pea on his heels. It just made me stop and think about how he came to the conclusion that there are rules to play…
I know we’ve tried playing a couple of board games with Cutie Pie, explaining a few simple rules. I also know we’ve had rules in our home about play, like no grabbing around someone’s neck and no jumping on the couch. I also know we used to have a book called Everybody needs a Rock that talks about having ‘rules’ for finding the perfect rock, but it’s been a long time since we’ve read that.
It’s been interesting, as since this day Hubby and I have heard ‘rules’ come out of Cutie Pie’s mouth often. I’m going to try to pay more attention and try to figure out his ‘rules’!
In the meantime, join me for a little Thursday blog hopping!

I love how kids start learning how to impose structure and how to try to get others to follow their ways! Great post.
I hope this happens in my household – my boys learning rules and following it!
