On our recent visit to the library we check out the book My Feet by Aliki after having borrowed My Hands
last time. I’ve really taken to books by Aliki as the kiddos seem to like to readily try the little tasks her characters do in the books.
The kiddos liked trying to walk on their heels, clap with them and try drawing with them. They also liked learning about the parts of their feet, and how they have names just like the parts of their bodies do. We actually tried to foot-draw with outdoor chalk, as we were outdoors when Cutie Pie decided he wanted to try this. It didn’t work very well for the boys, but Hubby and I managed to draw pictures as well as you can with your feet and big chalk. Cutie Pie quickly realized it was probably because our toes are bigger and could actually hold onto the chalk! Tonight he decided we should try again with pencils, so we’ll try that in the morning. I also shared with them about a high school classmate of mine who used his feet for everything because he had no arms, so they heard a real reason someone might rely on their feet to write.
I don’t name books and places we go to because I am paid to review them or looking for any incentive, rather simply because my children are interested in them, enjoy going to the places or are learning from them. Of course, if any place would like to provide an incentive after seeing what I writethat would be great, but I’m not going to be swayed in my personal opinion because of that!
