I think Hubby and I have been on more dates in the past two weeks than the whole first year of Sweet Pea’s life! It has been so nice to spend some alone time with Hubby! We’ve so needed it! This past weekend we celebrated 17 years of marriage and these dates just were a time for us to reconnect since our lives have changed so much since Cutie Pie was born.
One of the dates was a cruise on the Erie Canal. We took lots of photos and I’ll share them in another post. Cutie Pie and Sweet Pea loved them when we showed them the photos on the TV and Cutie Pie seemed fascinated with the lock.
We also went clothes shopping! I had been saving birthday and Christmas money since I was pregnant with Cutie Pie and finally decided to spend some of it. Nothing like shopping with a wad of cash to blow!
Then last night we went to a Yo Yo Ma concert. Hubby was given free tickets by one of his students to see his concert in a venue that has both under-the-shell and lawn seating. We had no idea where we would be sitting and we ended up in the front row! Normally, for an orchestra concert, the front row is the last place you’d want to sit because you’d see ankles and not much more, but for a concert like this it was perfect! (The only drawback was there was so much traffic trying to enter we had to walk in almost 20 minutes late and therefore everyone saw us walk to our seats!)
Sitting in the front row at a concert with only 13 musicians set up on the middle of the stage is awesome! We could see the musician’s fingers as they played, where they were looking with their eyes, the little facial expressions they give each other when it’s their chance to improvise. It was incredible! During the encore, Yo Yo Ma even said something to Hubby’s student, who was sitting next to him! One way this could have been better is if we knew photos were allowed…most classical concerts cameras are a no-no and can be confiscated until the end of the performance…but everyone around us were taking photos and were getting great shots!
Sorry this post hasn’t been about the kiddos learning through everyday life, but I did say I sometimes ramble!
Hey!! Stopping by again. I wanted to see how your date night went. Sounds like you guys had an amazing night without the kiddos. Since my 16 month old has been born we have only had 2 date nights without him, but we have been able to see 3 movies so far thanks to friends and my MIL. So when it happens we get soo excited.
