visit him at one of his schools! He’s a string music teacher at 3 of the local elementary schools and since the last day for school around here was Tuesday he’s been cleaning up a bit and we could finally visit him where he works! Today was a great day for it – rainy, Cutie Pie cried when his daddy left this morning…we needed this! Cutie Pie was excited to see where his daddy works, even though he remembers being there before, and Sweet Pea seemed to not know what to think!
Cutie Pie and Sweet Pea were greeted by a life-size paper mache tiger in the foyer. Then they saw the fish tank right nearby where we counted the fish. In Hubby’s classroom they saw all types of musical instruments, string and band, as he shares this classroom with the band instructor. Then we took a tour of the school starting with the stage. Cutie Pie had gone with me to one of Hubby’s concerts (which premiered his compositions for the year) and at that time had been intrigued with where his Daddy went when he wasn’t on stage was excited to stand on the stage where his Daddy stood for the concert.
The students have a great space to plant a garden (which unfortunately they won’t see come to fruition as they are all home for the summer…the plants were already huge!) complete with 2 self-contained compost bins and they get to enjoy a waterfall and rock garden. To our delight there were orange fish in the pond, which we counted, and a turtle! The turtle climbed out several times and sat and looked at us, turning his head this way and that. We wonder if the students sometimes feed him as he didn’t seem scared of us at all and he was only a foot or so away. Inside on our tour of the school we discovered more fish and turtles outside one of the classrooms! (Plus many balls that Sweet Pea pointed out to us!) I was so bummed that I forgot my camera!
We toured the rest of the school and found it quite colorful with groups of 6×6″ student-painted tiles on the walls all throughout the school. It was neat to see Cutie Pie and Sweet Pea recognize things on the tiles and Cutie Pie remarked he’d like to draw and paint like that sometime.
Visiting Daddy at his work never gets old…
