These past 2 weeks we’ve been working through learning about the 7 days of creation. I’ve been using the 3’s curriculum from
Hubbard’s Cupboard and have found it really easy to follow and fun for the kiddos. I felt that Cutie Pie needed a little more ‘structure’ to his mornings and he’s responded really well to this. After breakfast the kiddos play for a few minutes while I clean up the dishes and get everything on the table, then I announce it’s art time and they come running!
Every other day we talked about what God created on each successive day and do a project. It just so happens for the days of creation all but one of our activities were art projects. We painted stars, glued a sun and moon page, painted with just blue, pasted birds and fish in the appropriate place (dark blue or light blue), painted trees and glued on flowers, stuck stickers of animals around pictures of themselves and the last day we make heart-shaped cookies (to represent God’s love as He rested).

Cutie Pie seemed to really love doing the art projects. He’s never really been into things like that before. Sweet Pea is so coordinated when it comes to small things. We used some very small stickers on day 6 and he needed very little help! Cutie Pie was really interested in when dinosaurs were created by God, which led us to checking out some books from that perspective and comparing them to what other books teach about dinos.
Cutie Pie has really been learning a lot and I think this is a good start for more ‘formal’ learning, but I’m not going to push it. I want to do things that he likes and is interested in at this point to keep him interested in our little routine.
