Every once in a while the boys want to do a craft, or at least are willing to try one if I have all the necessary items set out and ready to go. One day we were talking a little bit about the first letter of Cutie Pie’s name, which in real life is not Cutie Pie, and which happens to be the letter P. I decided to make crowns for the boys and talk about being Princes.
I cut out the crowns, mostly because Cutie Pie isn’t quite that proficient with scissors yet (although he LOVES cutting!) the boys decorated them with crayons, markers, glitter…and we fitted them to their heads to wear. We talked about what a Prince is – a person, a boy, the son of royalty – a King, someone who everyone knows. Of course, I had to help come up with these ideas as a Prince isn’t that common in their circle of friends or in the books we’ve been reading lately. I also talked about being children of The King, Our Lord, and that it means we all are royalty and that they are Princes. We also talked about what it means to be Princes, and how to act as Children of God.
We also talked about how Hubby and I say we live in a palace (compared to most places we’ve lived this truly is a palace!) and how as sons of ours we think of them as everything – our Princes – and lightheartedly about how they should act as our Princes, let alone God’s kids.
As you can see, they absolutely loved their crowns, in fact wore them for most of the day that day! They loved us calling them Prince Cutie Pie and Prince Sweet Pea, too, now that they knew what that title meant! Thinking about it now reminds me it’s something I should talk with them about again, so they remember just how important they are to our little palace in our little kingdom here AND how important they are to Our Father up above!
