We Play at Childhood 101 day! This is my boys’ pink house…
…a garage sale find by my mother-in-law. At first hubby and I felt a little strange having a pink house in our backyard having only boys, but it has turned into so much fun we can’t imagine not having it, well, OK, that’s a lie, we can imagine it being gone…
The boys’ pink house has served many a pretend-play purpose:
-a house
-tree house
-corner grill
-diner
-ice cream stand
-diner on a train
-restaraunt
-fire truck
-kitchen for waffles, pancakes, desserts that we pretend to eat
-Goldilock’s 3 little bears house (yes, Cutie Pie tries to climb onto the roof to ‘get to the top bedroom’ and yes, we do stop him every time)
-lab for experiments
-‘the place for the water from the pool to go to’ – their little pool is usually set up within a few feet of the house so it’s an added bonus of real water in the kitchen sink!
Mind you, there are very little props for the boys to use in their pretend play, so they really have to use their imaginations. Sweet Pea gets in on the action many times, too, bringing ‘water’ and ‘juice’ and pancakes to us and waits to make sure we pretend to eat/drink whatever it was! Often times, if hubby is out firing up the grill when they are already engaged in this pink house play they will keep on playing and not get distracted! That’s how you can tell it’s a good outdoor activity around here!

Love Garage Sales & Second Hand Stores! Recycling toys is a huge favorite of mine. The boys Grandma has a good eye.
Hmm … me thinks your boys are a little food obsessed with their play! LOL
Why is so much of children’s play centred around food? I can’t even begin to count the number of play dough ice creams and burgers I have had to “consume”!
And, we are very jealous of your MIL’s garage sale find …
What a fantastic garage sale find, we have been umming and aahing about a cubby house in our new (to us) backyard. I think you have me convinced 🙂
