We Play Birthday Party for Dinosaurs

Cutie Pie’s birthday was back in January, but ever since then he mentions what he’d like for his next birthday party and acts as if it’s just a few days away. I’m not quite sure why he thinks it’s soon, but more often than not when he talks about his next party the day includes a birthday party he gives for his dinosaurs, complete with a tree for a cake. Each time he ‘realizes’ the cake is a tree he decides the party is for an herbivore, and not one of the friendly meat eaters!

I love watching and interacting with him when he does this type of play – the roles he takes on, the behaviors he assigns to each dinosaur, the responses he has each dinosaur give when he has different dinosaurs interact. He truly is working out social behaviors through each situation he creates. He sometimes responds/reacts differently when he invites me to interact with him via a dinosaur as opposed to when he later reinacts the same story that I was involved in.

Today we’re playing along with Childhood 101 We Play Tuesday. Head on over and check it out!
