We Play – Let’s Fly a Kite!

One of those days when Hubby was home for Christmas break the boys were getting antsy and Hubby had some projects he wanted to complete. The weather was very cold and snowy and there was no way to get Sweet Pea to go outside even if it was a nice winter day!
I suggested we pretend it was beautiful out and we fly kites! Cutie Pie was very skeptical of this idea…until I told him how we could do it and asked if he thought it would work. He agreed it might be possible, and thought decorating the kites would be good in case it did work, because who would want a kite that was just plain brown?

We took simple lunch size paper bags, decorated them with stickers and crayons, attached crepe paper to the bottoms (fine motor) and yarn through holes at the top (after folding it over once or twice to reduce the chances of tearing) and they were off! They ran and ran around our loop with their little kites trailing behind them! (gross motor, coordination) Winter kites, indoor winter fun!

Fun. You might like trying the Fetch at PBS lesson on kites. We’ve done it and it’s so much fun.
