The Bear Snores On

Cutie Pie knows this is one of my favorite books to read to him. He got it out again the other day and we read together. He has heard this so many times he can recite it from memory! Even so, he likes me to read it to him when he finds it on the shelf.

Most days we just read the book and have fun simply reading or describing the pictures. Today Cutie Pie decided to act it out – something he’s starting to do more and more often these days which I wrote about in a past post. When he does things like this I tell him he’s bringing my bones a lot of joy because I end up giggling so much at his antics!

After we read this book, he used his Winnie the Pooh lovey as the bear and hid him in a cave, which was really the space under a pillow propped up on the couch and he acted out the other animals’ parts. He was especially cute talking like the mouse “Don’t fret, don’t fuss. Look see…” in a high little voice. He even pretended to fall asleep on Pooh, I mean, the bear, at the end of his reenactment.

After watching his story we talked about how bears and other animals hibernate and what it means to hibernate rather than just sleep. We also talked about how the different kinds of animals were friends, even though they were different. And of course, we rhymed a lot throughout the rest of the day!
