I recently received the picture book The Lion’s Deceit to read with the boys. Cutie Pie really liked it, asking to read it several times in a row when we first opened the package. I have been wanting to read longer and more complicated concept books with Cutie Pie, and this book fit the bill.
The Lion’s Deceit really caught Cutie Pie’s attention as it is, of course about a lion, and for some reason he’s into lions and other jungle animals right now. It’s about a lion who takes an easy route to getting food to eat and it catches up with him and clearly reveals how some actions lead to undesirable consequences.
The print is a good size and it’s easy to read. It also captured Cutie’s attention as he’s recognizing letters in words recently. I do have to say, though, that there are some grammatical and punctuation errors, which were slightly annoying to me, but that’s probably because I had to pay attention to that sort of thing in a previous job and the habit has never left me.
I would recommend this book to read to your kiddos as well as to use as a first reader. You can purchase the autographed book from Village Life Books (ships from Canada) http://www.villagelifebooks.com or purchase from Createspace eStore, using coupon code 2LU4EXJM to get 10% off (ships from USA).
