I’m spelling, Mommy!

The other morning Hubby was trying to make breakfast and Cutie Pie kept hanging out by his legs or wanting to be held by me. It was one of those days when we both had little sleep and this sort of ‘getting in the way’ was getting to us. We all have those, right? As usual, this was one of those things that you look back on and realize it was ridiculous to let something so simple get to you because it would most definitely turn into either a special moment or a cute memory. Anyway, after a bit of this ‘annoying’ behavior Cutie Pie said “I’m spelling, Mommy!” Yup, a cute memory! And a very proud big boy!

I don’t know if you can read the magnet letters he strung together or not, but it didn’t spell anything. What it did do was cause Cutie Pie to ‘read’ us something and showed us he had a basic reading idea down – that letters form words! Since then we’ve been hearing a lot that he wants to read and that he’s starting to read, especially when he tries to make the sound of a letter he knows and then follows it by another letter sound! ‘On’ and ‘Off’ are the first two words he’s read repeatedly since then!

Happy Birthday Aunt Lisa – my sis who lives to read!
