It’s been hard for me to focus on Christmas this year. Not for lack of trying, but tragedies have been overwhelmingly distracting me of my excitement.
This Christmas Day I will try hard to focus on the ‘magic’ of Christ’s birth, of amazed eyes catching their first glimpse of the gifts under the tree and the carefree, happy heart that is amazed by such a way to introduce salvation to the world.
At the same time my heart will be grieving for the recent pain so many have endured and the reminder of that pain on Christmas as loved ones are missing…the victims in Connecticut and most recently firefighters senselessly killed early Christmas Eve morning in my own town.
I am so thankful this Christmas for my Savior’s birth and my heart will sing, but maybe just a little more sincerely.
Merry Christmas!
