Hubby is a string music teacher at the grade school level, so we often have music playing or music being played in our home. The kiddos get very excited when a couple of their daddy’s students come to the house for private lessons. After the lessons are over and the student has left, the boys are all over their daddy and whatever instrument he has out – the string bass, the violin, the viola – and it is usually Cutie Pie asking to play the instrument with Sweet Pea just running around in the room being excited or trying to wrestle Daddy instead of letting him play the instrument with Cutie Pie.
The day this picture was taken Sweet Pea was climbing on the instrument cases and Daddy asked if he wanted to play one of the instruments. Sweet Pea was very interested in the strings and the bow of the violin. He isn’t coordinated enough to do anything other than whack at the strings with his hand or the bow, but was interested nonetheless! As soon as Cutie Pie could see Sweet Pea was interested he ran and got his play guitar and Daddy jammed along with him, with Sweet Pea trying in earnest to grab the bow.
We aren’t focusing our boys into music, or a particular instrument, but we do hope they gain an appreciation for different types of music and if they do take up an instrument, even if it’s one we aren’t crazy about, we’ll be very excited!
It sounds like you have a future musician on your hands!
