I am really liking my new method of Mind Organization for Moms! So much so that I’ve become an affiliate! Power of Moms M.O.M. has really helped me feel less stressed and gotten me on the floor playing with my boys rather than getting them distracted playing so I could try to get things done. I am so very thankful for having found this organizing method for my piles of paper, to do lists and projects!
I’d like to share the simple organizing secret that I love the most about M.O.M. I love the Next Important Actions sheet. In the past couple of weeks I’ve put together my “Machine”, a set of folders that has helped me organize my papers in such a way that I can find things and keep the clutter at bay. I have a tickler of folders labeled by month where I stash things like my tickets for future OrKidstra concerts and important papers that I will need on specific dates in upcoming months. I also have a series of folders for each project I am working on, each containing project-specific sheets of information so I don’t have to search for everything when I’m ready to work on them. I can’t tell you how much better I feel about my projects! I feel like I can sit down and actually start working on something while the boys have a quiet time rather than spend the whole time searching for what I need! But the Next Important Actions sheet is by far the most helpful to me.
I tend to find myself with a few minutes here and there throughout the day when I can get something done in addition to quiet time. Normally I flounder around thinking about what needs to be done, what projects I’m trying to complete and end up either wasting my time searching for the right thing to do or giving up and then surfing the Internet during quiet time, thus wasting time and getting mad at myself. Utilizing the Next Important Actions sheet by writing down the next steps needing to be done for my projects or time-sensitive tasks helps me stay focused. It’s the quick reference I need to actually complete things! It is separated into categories such as phone calls, computer work and things to talk about with Hubby, so I can easily discern which tasks will be the best use of my time at the time I have free to accomplish something. It’s also the place where I can trust my tasks are secure because I look at this sheet throughout the day, so I am not as stressed about possibly forgetting to do something. The peace of mind I have by simply writing something meaningful down in such a meaningful and useful way is awesome!
I had a few friends over with their boys for Cutie Pie’s birthday and one friend commented on how clean my counters were! Of course, she was the friend I complained to about not knowing how to keep everything corralled! It made me feel good that I didn’t have piles everywhere and I enjoyed sitting and visiting with my friends, not being self-conscious about my hidden piles that they might accidentally uncover!
