Hubby commented yesterday that he’s really liking my M.O.M. organizing method because the counters are clean and he can make dinner without having to do a lot of work first! (Yes, I’m very blessed with a Hubby who can cook, since I can’t!) Just had to put that in there! On to the bigger things~
Clutter. Doesn’t it seem like clutter just seeps into your home? It does mine, and when it gets a foothold it brings my mood down with it. I find that I’m grumpier, more easily angered, agitated and just all around not myself when it’s around. Toys add to it greatly around here and are probably the main visual culprit. I mean, toys are great at keeping my boys occupied, but sometimes they get them all out at once or want to leave up a track that took them a long time to put together and visually it just clutters my mind. Do you experience this?
First simple steps in the rumpus room, which we practically live in:
- Toy clutter. I used to switch my boys’ toys out, keeping some in the closet and switching them every few weeks. I haven’t been doing this lately as it seems I’ve just gotten lazy about it plus they play so often with the toys that are out I find myself wondering what to put away! I’ve got to organize the toys in the room a little better. That’s all there is to it.
- I will select some toys to go into the closet so they aren’t lining the entire rumpus room. Maybe this will engage Sweet Pea with some toys a little longer than 10 minutes each?
- Pictures will go on the cubbies so things will be more likely to ‘live’ in the same spot and it will be much easier for the kiddos to clean by themselves. (Like that will ever happen with a 3 and 5 year old!)
- A large PVC pipe is waiting in our garage to be cleaned and cut, then the pieces placed under our couch to house the Hot Wheels tracks that currently live in a garbage pail in our rumpus room. (I will post the results of this in the future and let you know how well this works.)
- I will continue to keep paper clutter at bay.
OY!!! I need some organization myself. It’s just a neverending cycle, just keeps piling up.
