Nana and Papa have this really neat old style food scale on their kitchen table. We popped over there the other day and at some point in our quick visit each boy was up on the chair at the table weighing things. We loved this!
At first there were two tomatoes in one dish on the scale and nothing in the other. Nana asked Cutie Pie which was heavier. He thought and pointed to the one dish that was lower. It took a few tries, but he did manage to come to the conclusion that whatever was in the lower dish weighed more. The kiddos weighed multiple items each time and by the end were moving things from dish to dish to try to make them equal weights.
I would have been impressed just with Cutie Pie taking an interest, but with Sweet Pea climbing right up there and wanting to try to balance the scales, too, it made for an awesome impromptu science moment! I love when my kiddos take an interest in things like this on their own accord! I can’t wait to go back and see what they do next time!
Love this! I would love to get B a scale for Christmas to experiment with (is that wierd? =) )
