Dentist

Cutie Pie had his second dental appointment today, just a cleaning. At his first appointment 6 months ago he didn’t feel very well, but didn’t put up a fuss. Today he did great! He was so excited to go, mostly because he knew his teeth would be cleaned with a fun flavored toothpaste – bubble gum!

I was very surprised how well he listened. He hopped right up into the exam chair, told the hygienist all about his morning and about how if he’s good and helps clean up at night he gets a sticker and if he gets enough stickers he gets to see his daddy’s model trains…he didn’t squirm or seem afraid when she tipped the chair back or when she had him hold his mouth open to count the teeth and examine them. He answered all of her questions about how he brushes his teeth. He sat nicely waiting for the dentist (who happens to be the same dentist my hubby had as a young boy – and who remembers him!) I couldn’t have been more proud as a momma!

Sweet Pea was fascinated by the working sink that was his height and the many toys in the waiting room and kept safely occupied through the whole appointment. The hygienist said Cutie Pie did much better than the 9 year olds she sees…He was awesome! I, personally, can’t stand going to the dentist, so I’m very happy he likes it!

Ah!! That is great it was a good experience for him. I’m sure a lot of kids are afraid at that age. ๐Ÿ™‚
