If you live in the north/northeastern United States you are probably right in the middle of the normal season for maple sugaring! Of course, it has been so cold that the maple isn’t really flowing, but in a way that can be a good thing – Jack Wax!
A year ago I posted about making Jack Wax with my kiddos. It’s simply fresh, clean snow in a bowl, with maple syrup over it. So delicious. But a very special treat is fresh, fluffy snow with fresh, warm maple syrup over it! This doesn’t happen very often because the conditions have to be just right to have fresh snow and newly boiled down syrup!
I’m almost hoping for the right weather conditions this coming weekend for the maple sugaring festival we are going to, but only to put a positive spin on the fact that we are still getting snow in late March!
