We Play New Games

Cutie Pie received several games for his birthday and Christmas and has loved playing them almost daily! Two that I’d especially like to mention as his favorites are Cat in the Hat I can do that! and Richard Scarry’s Busytown. Both of these games attract Sweet Pea’s attention when they’re out, too!

Cat in the Hat I can do that! is an activity game that comes with foam pieces, a plastic boat, a rubber ball and a length of round foam that fits into two holders (which you can see in the link picture) to make an arch and three groups of cards. Each player takes turns picking a card from each group of cards, one says what you have to do, one that says what object you are to be holding, and one which says what you are to do with the object (ex. hop around the Trick-a-ma-Stick, holding the ball, between your elbows) and the player has to complete the task. The winner isn’t determined by who can do all the activities required of them, rather, by whoever has the most stars on all of their cards. Cutie Pie loves the funny activities you have to perform. I like that on a gloomy day we can still be active and have fun!

Richard Scarry’s Busytown game is so much fun, too, because it’s part eye-spy and part board game. There are more pieces to this game, a 3 piece board that fits together like a puzzle, little magnifying glasses, game pieces, cardboard food pieces, a spinner and game cards. This is a group game in which you work as a team to all get to the food before the pigs eat it all. You take turns spinning, moving your game piece and occasionally the spinner lands on ‘pigs eat’ or the GOLDBUG. Then you either take away a piece of food or you select a card and play eye spy searching for an item that’s hidden on the gameboard.

Both of these games are teaching Cutie Pie to take turns, to count, and patience, not to mention coordination and several other skills in the Cat in the Hat I can do that! game. If I knew about these games and Cutie Pie hadn’t received them as gifts I think I would have searched them out, they’re both under $25 around here or click above and order them through Amazon. Already they’ve been hours of family fun, and who can’t use more ideas for family fun for a gloomy or cold snowy day when your 2 year old won’t go outside because it’s too cold out?!
(This is not a paid review, nor was I compensated in any way. This is simply my opinion on products my children really like!)

We don’t have any games at our house yet; but now that the kids are getting a little bit older, they would probably really enjoy them. Thanks for the recommendations 🙂
