We Play! What’re you reading?

Cutie Pie has always loved to ‘read’ and be read to, so Hubby and I decided to create a little ‘nook’ for him to sit and read comfortably in. He used to have a big pillow in there, but as you can see it’s not there any more. Even at a very young age we would start wondering where he was when it got really quiet. Almost always we would find him here pulling books off the shelf ‘reading’. Now we tend to find him here when he’s not wanting to play with his little brother and wants some quiet time but doesn’t want to retreat to his room. Sometimes we’ll find him ‘reading’ to Pooh, his lovey. Other times he’ll be reading to himself and sometimes he’ll be acting out the story with his animals. Today he’s sick to his tummy again and tending toward the quiet side, so it’s no wonder I found him here…again.
I try to rotate the books on this shelf…we also have a small bookcase on our rumpus room and a box of books in his room. I want to encourage his love of reading by giving him lots of choices, but keeping his favorites within reach, too. Lately we’ve been noticing Sweet Pea is liking to read much more than he used to, which totally delights us. We haven’t caught it with our camera yet, but we even sometimes find Cutie Pie ‘reading’ to Sweet Pea! Love it!
